About the Facility

The Capital Senior Center opened its doors in 1995 as the Capital Senior Advocacy Center. Inspired by a group of Midlands residents, the Center was funded by Wachovia (then South Carolina National Bank) and monies from the State Legislature through the state bingo tax. The vision was to develop a facility large enough to provide a focal point for senior activities in the Columbia area for the growing senior population.

Its 17,000 square feet of space provides the community with an extraordinary facility for public and private events as well as a place offering up-to-date physical fitness regimens. Workshops and seminars for art, education, support and nutrition occur daily, Monday thru Friday.

Visitors are always welcome to come and tour the facility and speak with the staff about programs available.
